Poila Baisakh: A Table of First Harvests
Project type
Festive Tablescape Design
A sensorial ode to Nabo Borsho (or the bengali New Year), this tablescape draws from the abundance and poetry of Bengal’s first harvest.
Tender green bananas, lotus buds, and sheaves of grain rise like sculptural offerings, set against cascades of jasmine and textured foliage. Silver thalis brim with traditional mishti - narus, sandesh, and syrup-soaked delights - while brassware lends a quiet, timeworn gravitas.
The palette is intentionally rooted in newness and prosperity- fresh greens, muted florals, and earthen golds - evoking renewal, ritual, and the intimate joy of gathering.
Designed as both feast and installation, the table blurs the line between décor and offering, crafting an experience you can literally taste, with all five of your senses.
